Thinking back on the elections of 2006 and why we as republicans lost control of both the house and the senate and we lost a really good chance at regaining the governors seat in Illinois I believe that we lost because we did not have the faith of our base we failed to regain the Illinois governors seat because of lack of a message and lack of campaigning in the area that are highly republican.

I got to thinking about what I said right after the elections and that is that down state Illinois votes don’t count and now taking a closer look at numbers and vote totals its not Chicago that really counts in Illinois its down state and central Illinois and the concretive parts of northern Illinois that have more republicans that democrats I think now that republicans in the state of Illinois have lost control over every state wide office it is time for a new party chairmen that has a plan to bring republicans in our state back to power and kick the democrats out of Springfield and run the state the proper way.

Illinois republicans are not united to any one cause if you know Illinois republicans compared to republicans in other states you would all think we are a bunch a flip flopping liberal but for the most part we are now we are moderates. Some people that study Illinois politics would say that we are not leader that we are followers and I have to argue with that one we have many great leaders and many poor leaders with in our party some are States Attorneys that would rather plea bargain like the one in Morgan county Illinois and others like Joe Burkett actually do there jobs to the best of there ability. We Have leaders like sheriff Randy Duvendeck who cares about the county and also school children and wants to see great things happen in this county and then we had a sheriff like Robison in this county that was a sluff that was scared to do his job and let the Jacksonville police department do it for him. We have great leaders like Jim Edgar witch was one of Illinois best governors if not the best and then we had George Ryan that thought it was the best thing to clear the Illinois Death Row and let a few guilty criminals go free.

I have to say that the internet is a great tool for campaigns but I think in the last election we republicans relied on it to much to get the message I hope it still plays a role in our campaigns but nothing beats good old fashioned campaigning knocking on doors shaking hands, marching in parades shaking hands reading a book to our school children, holding a rally at local public high schools the good old chili suppers that every one love to go to and you can charge for that one also at least 5.00 a ticket a good way to meet voters and a good way to bring in some much needed campaign cash I must say I will be holding a chili supper for my campaign some time in the near future and lets not for get the good old fashioned town hall style meetings and oh yeah what about the debates it seems like the incumbents have the right not to debate and no fighting it from the incumbent that’s plain wrong. If money is was a campaign issue in the last election the boy scouts and you could have held a fundraiser and split the cold hard cash 50/50 the boy scouts are always willing to answer the call when called upon.

I also think that Illinois lost the last election because George Ryan was still fresh on the voters mind wow what a win for Balgo there and another thing that was fresh on the minds is the Name Allan Keys the anti every thing guy after all, all people knew about him is that he really hated the world and wanted to take away peoples rights if you were gay he would say your going to burn in hell hey he should join the Rev Phelps Protest what I guy he is blaming every thing on the gay how dare he how dare he do that.

Well that brings me to my next point I have to say I am indeed openly gay and I don’t think its that big of an issue some people my think so but why would you mark some one out because there gay dose that mean I am any different than you does that make me a non American does that make me unfit to serve in public office I don’t think so. People should judge a political candidate based on the issues not that they are gay or straight on if that candidate values principal over politics and last but not least where the candidate would like to move the state or country.

I am a republican and I stand for values and principal over politics nothing less!
