As many of you know by now that I am gay and also a republican and I know that many frown upon that in the gay community as if it makes me less gay or not gay at all and I feel that is a sad shame. I have to ask am how does it make me less gay or not gay at all? Is it because I don’t believe in the liberal ways of democrats, is it because of the fact that republicans believe in the value of principal over politics, or is it because some republicans don’t believe in the marriage terminology of the words gay marriage?
Today I am here to clear some things up and why I am in fact a republican and what type of republican I am because I am no ordinary republican by far according to the party standards. I have to say yes I believe in god and I am nothing with out my loving lord and I would not have the strength to run for public office with out him. I am not a conservative republican, a liberal republican nor a moderate republican I am a reformist republican witch simply means that I put the values of principal over politics and that I put the value of holding government responsible to the people in witch it was created for and to make it more accountable to we the people.
I know what you may be thinking reformist republican? Is there such thing as a reformist republican? The answer is yes there have been many reformist republicans through out the history of the republican party like Ronald Regan being one of the most resent and Abraham Lincoln. There have also been some governors of this Great state of Illinois like Governor Jim Edgar although many people said he was a moderate I think in time history will tell us that he was in fact a reformist republican and Governor Jim Thompson he was a reformist republican another president that was a reformist republican that is many times forgotten about is Gerald Ford was a reformist republican and I think when that history book is written it will be the fact that he did clean house even though he was not elected to a term of his own.
I believe that when you really think about the republican party and what it stood for when it was founded you will see the true beliefs in the republican party is not about hurting the rights of people that are different and that true fact we are about equality, justice and government reform.
Thank you and God Bless you all!
